you could look at reichard racing, they make no slip pulleys and are popular in the mustnag world. they have VERY little slip to them, but you pay for it.

Good Call Ring,,, last time I checked on Vortech site they did not have the "High Traction" http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=44 Just what I am looking for,,, already have your famous "tension reindex" done Is that what your running the 2.70 with standard Crank size and the 104.5 belt? |

i have a ebay pully but i imagine the high tractions might get a little more boost, this idler also helped 10mm biger then the vortech kit tightens things up and higher quality billit vs plastic |

That's what I am running also.... bought it from ebay.
Vortech 2.70 High Traction... on V1 Trim, making 10lbs boost at max on a 408/eddy heads. I did not re-index my tensioner either... no slipping on my setup.

How would you know?? I was told that everyone Marty tested slipped......from him, hes the one who instructed me on watt to do.............. The shop at Bouch--------perf. that was consulted on exactly watt size TB to run advised me of the same thing.....they run like 7 or eight Mag. set ups, dyno tuned with Vortechs and ALL said the same thing about slippage and CFM requirement....... The Speed Channel show where S. Highland was challenged to get more power out of a Ford GT, found the blower slippage at higher RPM.....changed the pulley to smaller Hi-traction, reinforced the inlet to stop it from collapsing and tuned in more fuel to match the real boost and gained 97hp over stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They slip........Fire I believe you have sig-nif HP on tap over and above watt you already have.......you might look into reindexing...........JAT. |

Ya that "reindex" trick was the first think I did on my SC install,,,, it was a bitch to put the belt on after but it works,,, Also you need the angle on the back of the SC plate to the exhaust maniford bolt to hold plate from bending under load. And I was seeing still a bit of black dust with just stock size pulley on the few runs I made before the kaboom.
So the 2.70 is not too small for a standard crank size then? Thought it might be over rev the blower. |

I feel like I'm missing something here.
NoTime, why are you specifying 8 rib, aren't ours 7 rib? |

Our blowers have 7 rib pullies from Vortech..........they do not make 7 rib pullies for us to swap out so we can make more boost......... The 8 rib pullies are the same physical dimensions except they are wider and have an extra rib (something women don't have....eh...Adam....uhhh....) so, buy an 8 rib/"mustang pulley) slap it on and go get urself in a whole heap of trouble..................Tickets Please!

So the 3.12 on the Vortech site is probably the one our Vs already come with then, right?
learned sumthin here today ![]() I know March makes a lot of 6 rib stuff for serp belt conversions. Not sure if that opens up any more options, like for a complete swapover? I know more is preferable as far as ribs though plus I'm not sure if they have anything that fits our P/S pumps anyway. You're a mean one, Mr Grinch! |

they actually make compleate 8 rib kits, it would be better to upgrade all out pulleys to 8 for more traction insed of more slipping wil a thin 6rib, or a 10 rib or cog more grip more boost more powa

I'll tell u why I said that, several years ago I answered an add in Craigs list and met a Mustang owner/racer who had a hi-traction 8 rib off his "race only" mustang in the 2.70 size.....he said it was a rare piece developed for a certain class but wanted to sell it for like 150skins......just a couple weeks later I was running the 2.85 when I got a call from a tech at vortech who said they where in stock, so I assumed they where "mustang" pullies.......

Its just sweat equity in reindexing the tensioner.....standard tools (dremel) and a little skill........................cost ZERO........... Then smaller pullies from Vortech are only 80skins......most go with the 2.85...same cost to get the Hi-Traction 2.70 which is said by Vortech to be the limit on spooling up the head unit............. So several hours doing the mod and 90skins and ALL yer problems are solved....remember the Hot Rod Dictum of "keep it simple stupid" this is the simplest method and it werks...I'm going on 4 years? now, no problemo. |
