Subwoofer Question
one of my subs isn't working. the right one works but the left one doesn't. i'm assuming, its just that the wires are wrong....because i know it's deff not blown. does anyone have any suggestions?

You have any specs on your subs? Is it Dual Voicecoil? If it is, it could possibly be blown, only playing at a reduced level. Gently pushing on the cone should reveal any 'rough' movement.

ummm...i'm not sure! subs and stuff are not really my thing.... the wires i used might not be any good. but both of the subs worked in my brothers truck. so i know it's not blown. it's just bugging me to only having all the work being done to one 12" sub... which means it's working alot harder.

Try swapping wires from the sub that is working to the one that isn't. Quickest way to tell if it's good or not. Could also be a blown fuse in the amp which is usually easily replaced.

That channel might have a blown fuse. Where did you swap wires at the amp or at the speaker?

If you swap them again (WIRES) at the amp that will either determine if the wires going to that speaker are good or bad. If you understand what i'm saying. LOL

I had a similar problem with my 6 1/2 2-way..... It would barely play sound. When I took the speaker out of the door trim, I found that the low pass capacitor had a broken lead. Had to cut a little of the insulation back from it and re-soldier it to the terminal... problem fixed.
I dont have any subwoofers in my ride yet and it has been a number of years since I have looked at a sub, but I believe they also have capacitors on them to block high signals ??? Worth a check. Also, try to find the thin wires that start from the connection terminal and go to the voicecoil... check for breaks in that.... They are easy to fix if you can soldier with a steady hand. If you were bassing out...then you might have melted a voicecoil.
