Cowl Hood

I want to get a cowl induction hood. Does anyone have any input on which one i should get? I found a cowl hood on ebay with the hood grilles already in it. it is made by a company in california. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-98...Q5fAccessories Anyone here have one on thier jeep? I just dont want to gamble on buying a hood i can't take a look at. don't want to pay the body shop to work on a hood for hours just to make it fit and paint ready.

Thanks
Joe

How is the quality of the hood? Is it ready to slap on and paint. or is it a pain in the a$$ to get lined up and looking good on the jeep?

WOW....
That one's got a wider cowel than mine.
See...
DSC00519.jpg

the frame looks like they took the original frame & attatched it to the cowel cover.

Mine is completely from scratch...DSC00565.jpg

I wish I knew where it was purchased.
Came with the ride when I bought it.

yes, this is NOT one of those flimsy hoods that shakes and flexes while driving highway speeds. The bracing is fiberglass and can me trimmed for additional clearance if needed.

Here is his personal email: alfonsoest@yahoo.com

Uhhhh this one's not flimsy... She holds firm an has its own fiberglass framing which gives it good rigidity. so I found out one day when I didn't lock it down & canopened my windshield entering the highway. Popped like an airbrake on a 727 ...all it did was chip the paint in ONE little corner... & ripped $200 from my pocket.

Then I invested in some hoodpins fo $20. Live N Learn I guess.

did I mention I did this twice B4 hood pins....? can anyone top my IQ now? I shoulda taken pics. would've been a nice before N after N before N after visual as to what the last sound you wanna hear is B4 starting the truck after you've been under the hood....

I wasn't specifically speaking of "your" hood, just stating that some are not good everyday highway hoods, but the one I purchased was.

Davit, where is that pic from?

Do the black vents mean they are separate pieces or added on afterwards or are they part of it and just detailed black in that pic?

OK some news about the hood

So I emailed the guy asking a few questions:

Quote:
Hi,
One of the guys from the forum that I co-own(thespeedfreaks.net) recommended to get a hood from you. He said that the hood was exceptional quality and that you will be able to do 211+shipping? I wanted to post this info in my advertisement section, but wanted to confirm first as well as place an order.

Quick question:
1)Is it possible to get it in black(or is the white better)?
2) Will it be possible at all to lower the size of the cowl in the back from 2.5" to say 1.5"??? The front part looks great, it's just in the back the cowl is way too high for my needs.

I will be ready to place an order once I hear back from you. I also will be posting the pictures once the hood is installed on my forum.

Thank you!

-Davit
His answer:

Quote:
Hi thank you for asking, yes I can do it for 211 plus shipping.
Regarding the scoop it would be best to make a mold versus modifying an existing one which I can do too.
To make a mold I would require to set a group buy of 10 units to justify the tooling cost. I can modify and existing one for $85 extra and set the scoop to the height that you want.
I would also be open to suggestions for other fiberglass/carbon fiber products that you might want.
Please let me know.

Thank You.

What you guys think???
Anyone interested in this hood so we can get a group buy? And lower the size of that cowl a bit, it is ridiculous now.
