comp crashed troubles reloading vista.
So my brand new laptop crashed about 20 days after I got it and gateway sent me all 6 of the recovery discs. The only problem is that it only let me load 4 of the 6. My computer starts up fine with jsut the 4 discs loaded and I can use the internet and watch movies and all of that good stuff. But I cannot download new themes because it says I need some windows xp or higher....which I have. And the manual/auto dimming feature on my comp isnt working either.
Any suggestions on how to get the other 2 discs to load properly?

that is the weird thing, the discs are labeled exactly the same except they all say... 1/3, 2/3, 3/3, 1/2, 2/2, and then the last one isnt labeled.
i HAVE NO IDEA IF THE DRIVERS ARE INSTALLED PORPERLY...I ASSSUME I AM MISSING QUITE A FEW SEEING AS HOW I NEVER INSTALLED 2 OF THE DISCS AND IT WONT LET ME. |

Gateway does what IBM used to. You have 6 disks to make sure that you can load the OS, drivers and then their bloatware BS that they include with every f-in PC.
Are you starting the computer with the disk inside and just keep on switching them as you go?

hahaha yes I did try putting the discs in but they would not run. It would allow me to open them in my computer and view the files but it would not autoplay or have a .exe file or anything to get them to load.

Sounds like it is time to format and reinstall. Why in the world have you not returned the damn thing yet? It crashed within 30 days of purchace, that is not a good start brother.

I have a vista ultimate 32 bit, I can reinstall it on your lappy, but we will need all the drivers... Ultimately we can try to just do repair... but I like format and fresh install better
