As cool as it is, I'm going to be honest, $12,000 for a 500hp engine seems a bit steep.

But the last one listed is quite the sex.

The crank......we can cross drill our cranks, and knife edge for windage and light weight advantages, this with al. rods and light weight pistons can add some real horse power to someone building a street 408.

that is high but the parts are there for lowcost added horsepower. it has a fully forged short block with i bet " out of the box " heads. i bet with a killer port job on the heads and intake and change the cam you could add a good bit of horsepower . i would think 600hp or close to it. it also has hemi heads on a small block. how many people can say that. being different usually costs you more money. i'm not trying to be a dick or anything just a different opinion, if it comes across that way.

just look at indy for an example. they want 7600. for a 408 with plain iron heads cast crank and 5140 i beam rods. it is listed as 520/500ftlbs. with as much bad stuff as i read about indy i wonder if they have a real happy dyno. that means that motor is pretty much maxed out. add alum edelbrock heads and a forged bottom end and you are at prolly 11k with prolly the same hp maybe a little more. your stuck with less than 600 hp with those heads unless you do a 1000 plus porting job on them.

i thought about calling them just to see if you can buy just the heads and pistons and what the cost would be. i'm not interested but would like to know just because.
