    0-60 for fun

I clocked my 0-60 time today with just a stopwatch and could only get 7.9secs on average.

I'm running 31" MTZ's (47lbs each) so maybe that's why it's so slow, anybody else check theirs?

I know it's probably not too accurate considering atmospheric'/barometric pressure, air temp, etc. etc. but thought I'd throw it out there.

Was really hoping to get in low 7secs with the few mods I have (SCT Tuner, FI AIrgap, CAI, 3" exhaust, 180 TS).

I've tested mine at 7.7 in the rain, spinning most of the way through 1st gear and 3/4 throttle. This was timed with a laptop hooked to the OBDII port. I haven't had time to re-test in good weather. I definitely will after mods go on though.

^ That's funny, mine launches better in 2wd than 4wd... Probably due to the way my shocks are balanced, etc, it gets too much weight transfer and spins the left front in 4wd.

Cool, thanks for the link, Now I have a baseline. Headers should be my next mod before I go heads and cam, I really want to crack 7secs at least. Anybody running big/heavy tires? I think mine are slowing me down a ton, plus I just got. 33" baja claws put on this week so that won't help, lol.

I'm running a bit bigger/heavier than stock: 245/70R16 Firestone Destination A/Ts (34 lbs per tire).

Here is a video of a launch in 2wd. Need a speedo gear to reflect the change in tire size (still running the stock speedo gear) so the stopwatch should stop at around 91 I think, looks like a bit better than the 7.9 I got in Full-time mode, 7.5secs perhaps....Tires weigh 52lbs each so not too shabby I guess.

Yeah, I would love to go 4.56 but can't afford it right now, something still tells me I'm not running tip top though, putting new plug wires on today and synthetic oil, any edge on the cheap I'll take right now, lol.

i know this is an old thread but anyways lol
i ran roughly 8.5, that seems really slow to me still considering i have doug throleys, K&N FIPK, new plugs 8.2mm wires

however after thinking about it i am in colorado and when i do test my 0-60 i am in the foothills so 1+ miles above sea level and only running on 91 (highest available from the pump octane in colorado) do you guys think that could be why im only running high 8s? kinda seems like shes sick if its that slow

That does seem slow. However, I've never been able to accurately hand-time a 0-60, so if you were doing it by hand, that's likely part of the problem.

When I video-ed mine, it was somewhere in the high 7 second range...8 seconds at the highest. All I have is a CAI, 50mm TB, no cat, flowmaster 40, and a dying fuel pump.

I'd love to see how it'll run when I replace the pump and regulator, I'm tired of this one WOT run it pulls hard, and the next it falls flat on its face. :/

Also, with my larger tires...tire calculator says its 2.3% off...meaning that when it says 60, I'm actually doing about 62mph. So...that can factor in slightly as well.

If I can find the video of my old Jeep...I'll let you know what that one was...it seemed so much quicker to me.

Just watched the video of that one, and, I didn't get a good view of the speedo, but, it looks to be in the 7-8 second range as well...spinning most of the time to 60. It felt a lot quicker, but, the tires were a little smaller and it spun like crazy...lol

i do have bigger tires on as well 245/70/16 with kevlar sidewalls much heavier than my stock sized spare, it seems like the majority of people on the site are from the east coast where 93 is available which means you guys get more "vroom" from you gas hahaha and not a mile+ above sea level, i also had dayne in the jeep were both about 170lbs plus a good 100lbs of subs in the back lol and yes we were testing it by hand, and my speedo is off by roughly 2-3mph due to the tires that i totally forgot about until now lol

Its like 49mm something I believe that's why the 50mm is an improvment and 52mm is better because its bigger

Stock TB is 50mm to the plates, necked down to 48 below them. Also, Tyler, extra octane doesn't make more power. It's just more resistant to pinging. IOW, if it doesn't ping on 91, you'll gain nothing from 93 unless you change the tune.

^^^Yes, mine is a straight 50mm bore. I noticed no difference, only took a little getting used to because barely touching the pedal made it jumpy as hell...haha.

And yes...more octane allows for more timing/compression, but does not make more power itself.

weird cuz i always thought higher octane ment more power, when i threw some 110 octane boost in my jeep it felt like such a monster lol or is it because that big of a difference makes a difference compared to just 91 to 93?

That would mostly be the placebo effect. The overall power was likely pretty unchanged, or even slightly lower (excessive octane can cause this). Using octane boosters, etc, changes the chemical mix of the gas, so it can change how the fuel vaporizes, etc, which can affect how the engine responds better (could see a small improvement in throttle response), but it shouldn't give you any extra power.
