ZJ max tire size on stock zj

any of you guys able to tell me the max tire size i can fit on my zj - winter is coming and i'm hoping i don't need to insure the yj this winter but i'm on summer streets in the zj right now. But here is the predicament - we plan on putting a lift on it in a couple years but not untill our baby to be can climb a bit lol. We want to put the largest tires we can fit on her so that when we lift it we don't have the immediate expense of new rims and tires and we don't have to rape the yj for them lolol any help appreciatted tyvm
96 yj lifted 2.5 4 cyl (funny i know) but it goes anywhere within reason. Aftermarket everything.

Well I am running 29.1" tire and I am 2" lowered.
Meaning you can stuff 30s on there without too much of the headache. They would probably rub on front lower CAs, but who cares if it's just for a season.

31x10.5 will work but they will rub in 2 places. One on full lock they will rub the sway bar, 2 the bottom of the front bumper skin. I have a 255/65.16 on my niner i like the look. The 30x9.5 is perfect for a stock ZJ. If your interested in a cheap 2" lift PM me

You will rub the shit out of everything with 31"s and no lift. Well, that is unless you never have to hit bumps, turn, or heaven forbid both at the same time...

You can however, easily fit 31s if you add a 2" BB lift. Those lifts are cheap, usually around $200 and will include new shocks...

One thing to make note of though... Not all tires are created equal. They are often times shorter or taller than the listed size. You can generally find the actual height of most tires without much hastle...

lol you guys crack me up - i am going tomorrow to look at a set of 30 X 9.5 pro comp at's and (this kills me) but i think im going to put them on the stock rims for the time being. The guy at the tire shops a buddy of mine and he's agreed to throw them on the front and let me wheel his parking lot to see how much they rub but all four mounted balanced on new pro comps for 900 canadian dollars (the northern peso) good deal??
BTW i hope you all love me cuz with my two jeeps in the driveway i'll be harder to get rid of than herpes

As for the lift jeep98 I will have to talk to the wife - she doenst want any lift till the baby is walking and well it aint born yet and i can explain to her that 2 inches is nothing but her argument will be that it must mean something cuz she married me lololol self depreciating humour is the best - ty for the offer jeep98 i will run it by the boss.

ya i figured as much i just REALLY don't want to buy snow tires lol and we arent ready to do the things we want to do so im looking for an economical solution - i'd hate to spend 1500 - 2000 bux on stuff im not gonna use for very long - buying snow tires would be a waste of money at this point and well winters coming - my work trucks all 2wd
