Yeah kinda, stock PCM can be tuned with a SCT tuner, FlyinRyan is the preferred guy for tunes. You will need to install a data logger for Ryan to properly tune it (I believe he requires it), best bet is contact him for details.

Hehe thanks guys!!! But one step at a time, Gotta get the engine and tranny first,
and i need to still figure out what the fcuk is wrong with the suspension. Every moving
part was replaced, and alignment was done, and my steering wheel is off to the side
and it has a play. Steering box was replaced too... When i brake there's a sound that
can be heard sometimes like metal against metal moan. Sounds kinda like the lower
control arms have a play, and that would explain the play on the wheel, and it being
off-center. The problem is that loose lower control arms arent loose enough to move
and check when the car is up, it only happens when the weight of the car is pushing
on them. So not sure what to do and how to find out for sure whats going on. I'm
suspecting the lower control arms, because i first noticed that after i replaced them.

    Anyone encountered this problem before?

I don't have any knowledge of those exact problems, but....

Do you have access to a set of ramps? That will allow you to check out the lower arms with the weight still on them. If not, next best thing would be a shop with a drive on type lift.

Any chance the upper track bar (body side) nut is loose? That wouldn't be a whole lot of play though and wouldn't account for the wheel being off.
It can be hard to check though Also, sometimes the hole in the upper body bracket can get ovaled-out if the previous track bar (and suspension in general) had a lot of wear and moved around a lot. I've heard of people welding in washers to restore it, or hunt down a new bracket or whatever.
Was the steering box a reman? Maybe it wasn't done right?

How bad were the divots where the brake pads rest on the knuckles? Just thinking that could cause problems as that's a bad wear area and kind of a factory weakness on our ZJs. You can have the divot filled in by a welder, grind it back to normal. Lot cheaper than buying new knuckles.

No real answers there, just food for thought, stuff to check out.

Well... I finnally ordered the engine yesterday. Decided to go with a regular crate not a 408.
It will have polished and ported heads though and they'll paint it chrysler orange. It should come in by
1st of june. I'll try to document as much as i can, without getting in the way as they work.
All the other parts are just waiting in my living room haha.

Ordered it from hiperformer.com they have 7yr 70000mile warranty, so thats not bad. They
also supply 5 quarts of Driven break in oil. Thats a nice touch. Will post once i got some
    news about that...

I found the problem that was causing the play on the wheel. I was parked and had a conversation
with my buddy through an open window and i showed him the play. But i noticed that the left wheel
isnt turning when the play's on the wheel, it starts turning when the play ends. The entire axle
was moving sideways. WTF? So I told that to my mechanic and they replaced some bushings on
the control arms and the track bar - hopefully that helps... I'm picking her up tomorrow... hopefully.
They were replacing the solenoid in the tranny, but it came out to be faulty so they had to do it
again, so she should be ready by tomorrow. Engine replacement should be ready by 10th of june.
Can't wait to hear the new engine and exhaust \o/

Camshaft bearing is shot. Pretty much if i don't add lucas to the oil, it keeps misfiring on one cylinder badly, and the
valves are ticking all the time because the oil pressure doesn't get to the last lifter fully. So considering
how much would it be to fix it (IF that's the problem, there's no way to know for sure) i decided its gonna
be best to spend abit more and replace the whole engine.

Plus I decided I wanna turn my baby into a new car. It lived its entire life in Florida so the body and paint is just
flawless. So replace engine, rebuild the tranny and ive got myself pretty much a "new" car. I don't want any new (past 2000)
car, those things are just disposables - that's how i call them. And when i decided im gonna replace the engine i said,
hey why not make her more powerful? So I ordered some performance parts.

Damn litle too late now lol I already ordered a crate from hiperformer.com they will port and polish the heads tho
so it still should be nice

Besides that's only a block, pistons and crankshaft. It still needs heads, valve train, timing chain and gears, and
camshaft that would prolly mount up to be close to 6k which is what most companies told me for a 408. That's
a little too much for my pocket, so i decided to go a more budget conscious way

    Engine has arrived

The engine has arrived finally, I have to wait till the 15th till I can leave the car at the shop for
replacement tho. But I went there and took some pics. You cant really see clearly through the
plastic foil, but I didnt want to cut the seals, since this engine will be lying there in the shop for
over a week. So that way I know they didn't touch it. The engine came with 5 quarts of Joe Gibbs
Driven Break-in oil, and i ordered additional 5 quarts of their 10W30 Synthetic oil...

    Anyway here are the pics:

Looks nice - won't it be great to have it back together?!!

Are the headers mounted or was that a test fit? I'm wondering if the motor will go in with them on - never thought about it but it'd be a helluva lot easier that way!

The port is for the EGR valve for use on OBD1 ZJs.

For ease of production and stocking they only make this one 'dual coverage' version. They sell (or did sell?) a nice matching block off plate with gasket for sealing that up. I'm pretty sure they still have it.

Did you specify the year, or just order a part number?
You'd think they'd confirm that and include the plate when ordering for OBD2 models, or even include it as part of the kit since it's probably not too expensive? If the box they came in is still around you might want to check it - it would've been real easy to overlook something that small if you didn't know to look for it.

I believe you can still order the block off plate separately through DT, but it would be easy enough to make your own.
Just trace that flange onto a plate, cut it out and round it off, drill two holes, and most likely you can get the gasket at your local auto parts store. (I need to do one of those two things myself. The set my DD came with just had a crude hunk of metal covering it.)

I think DT always had the dual use tube on theirs, unless maybe they had two models "back in the day". A few manufacturers made them without the tube, or maybe made two different sets for OBD1 vs OBD2, but as I'm sure you know DT is the only game in town for new headers now.

The block off plate and gasket were included in the sealed bolt pack with my DT kit last year. It must be there somewhere.
