Trans temp is coming... Eventually. Sunpro gauges because they're cheap and have fairly decent reveiws--and because they're not super gaudy.

In other news, I spent six hours washing, clay barring, buffing, waxing, sealing, and polishing GWB. She's not perfect, but gawd daymn if she isn't pretty.

My wife asked if I wanted a Valentines day present, I said no... She said "yes you do... Pick out what you want." This is what's I came up with, ordered, and am waiting for.

    - - - Updated - - -

As soon as I have a whole weekend to myself, all this stuff, an M1, Mopar Performance VCs, an AC delete bracket (that I'm making myself from a JY unit), a new thermostat, the two a-pillar gauges and pod, and the custom VIC switchpanel/ ammeter are going in all at once.

Aluminum plenum? (I need to do this on both our friend's 5.9L and my wife's. I took a look at her friend's last weekend when we detailed the interior, replaced five bulbs, checked e-fan functionality, replaced front sway-bar links, and fixed the VIC--she has pooling oil. Thankfully our 5.9 just has a light spattering.)

I'm going with an M1 for this Jeep... I replaced just the gaskets on my last niner and reused the old (visably warped) pan. If it hadn't been an emergency/spur of the moment/I-need-this-done-today-so-I-can-drive-it-to-work-tomorrow repair, I definitely would have gotten a pan.

Where in the Jeep are you going to install the TV? The roses would look better in Princess.

I'm a little disappointed with the Lotek gauge pod. But after reading other people's reviews, I guess I should have expected it. The edges aren't smooth and there's a lot of plastic burrs that I have to clean up from the manufacturing process. And the two screws used to hold it on appear to be drywall screws. Not real thrilled about that, either.

Wait till you have to screw in the screw between the pods. Can't get the screwdriver perpendicular to the head. I had to heat and bend a narrow Phillips and screw it in 1/8 of a turn at a time. Lotek didn't tell me that. I also had to burr and use a heat gun to reshape what I didn't like. Looks good now but far from OEM. I hate "good enough"!

    This would work:

I have an articulating and ratcheting Craftsman screwdriver I got for my 14th birthday (almost a decade ago... Jeez). That thing's on of the best tools I own. I'm reallllly hoping it'll do the trick, but it doesn't look super promising.

I'm also not looking forward to drill the very edge of the metal back there

If memory serves me I don't believe there is enough room for the ratcheting head to fit.

I know... mainly was asked why I wanted to re invent the wheel. The comment spilled over from my son surfacing and posting something on FB so I dug up Frankensteins "It's Alive" and this just played into it...

Bummer it didn't work but I'm glad I saw this before buying one. I still really want to do a custom cluster but that will never happen.

It WILL work... I'm trying finesse and technique right now. If that doesn't work soon, it'll be a god damn dremel and gorilla glue.

In other news, I wish I'd known these were a thing before I started this whole open element air cleaner shenanigans. This one is designed to miss the hood; they have other models that actually go up and fill out a cowl-induction hood.

Oh well, mine will (hopefully) be pretty neat when it's done.

That liner thing is pretty neat. Needs a good scrubbing. I never find anything fun at my local salvage yard like that. How much did they charge you for it?

Good choice on the catch can. Make sure you put some RTV or thread sealant (loctite) on the two mounting bolts. On those summit wires be careful then removing them. I have a set on my XJ and had a few of the terminals come off when I was removing the wires. Never had that happen before.

That paint looks amazing and that viper key is badass. I would get one for mine but a) it won't fit the XJ which has the stupid sentry key system and b) the PPO was some old lady that obviously had an issue with either loosing keys or locking them inside the ZJ.... so I have like 6 keys for it.
