Thumbs down Why is SCT Taking SO Long?

why hasn't SCT come out with an updated DCX tuner for us yet? They told me the end of October when I called and now it's almost the end of November.

Because they are simultaneously rolling out 2006-2012 support with it. I wouldn't be buying handhelds left and right if I knew something was on the horizon.

So Ryan, do you believe the x3 will be worth it or will the 9550 do the job just fine?

There will be no new tuning "capabilities" with the X3. The only difference will be price, and the ability to datalog OBD2 parameters (So you'll still be on the hook for a wideband O2). An X2 tuned Jeep with a datalogger will be just as capable, for less, without the complications of guinea pigging a newly released product.

So how would the input from the wideband O2 work? We need to buy, say, an LC2 and it will plug into the X3? X3 take a serial port or 0-5v input I assume?

Don't see where Ryan said there was a "Input" for the WB....in the new X3

He just said you would still be on the hook for a WB.

Myself,,, I would get a refurb current unit and use the Inovate WB OBD-II combo pack to send a log. But hey if you want to wait for new vapor ware.

Gotcha, so it only datalogs the OB2 stuff. Seems kinda useless for us then. So the x3 is basically a more expensive x2 that datalogs things we dont even need to datalog. So glad they quit making the x2....

Mind you, this is all educated speculation because I've received no news on the X3 aside from a ballpark pricing figure. The X3 should have some sort of plug for analog inputs, such as WB02 or EGT, etc.

It's not useless, the way I tune these vehicles datalogging certain OBD2 parameters (unless you hardwire various sensors) is mandatory. Datalogging AFR without a wideband O2 sensor is not possible on these PCMs.
The X3 is an updated X2 with datalogging capability. I would expect there to be some other refinements such as perhaps additional tune storage, etc.

Chrysler tuning was never cheap, isn't cheap now, and is only going to get more expensive. With the age of the vehicles in question, and the degree of troubleshooting/checks I have to go through the tuning process , IMO it is fairly priced for the work being done. The guys that work with me understand that they may pay a premium, but it's reflected in the quality of calibration.

They debuted the X4 at SEMA earlier this month, giving a spring release time frame and having support for Ford/Chevy/Chrysler so I doubt they'd put out an X3 with Chrysler support before that.

It's funny how early fall of 13 for the X3 turns into spring of 14 for the X4. I can't wait for these.

Any updates on the actual release date? It was announced at SEMA but cant find a concrete date and SCT's site hasn't changed in a while.

Do the X3s work with their Advantage III software? A buddy of mine knows a shop that uses that software.

The software is make specific. 90% of tuning shops have the ford and Chevy software. Finding a shop for Chrysler vehicles is pretty tough. Finding one with a good reputation is damn near impossible.
