BBK, F&B, big gulp TB, what ones better?

i hear big gulp is good but it's cheaper then BBK, but i know bbk makes decent products, and someone said F&B is the best. though from what big gulp says, it has the msot flow and whatnot then the two. what do you guys think?

Lot of people use these and have heard good reviews. Problem with numbers is that takes a lot to validate. One person/company that can afford the "study" can bank that others will not spend the dough to dispute. I look at it this way; a true 50 mm will flow better than stock the same as a true 52 mm will flow better then the 50.

nope Im pretty sure its a stock core even. Im pretty sure all you can get out of that is about 53mm. Either way it appears they dont sell them anymore.

F&B uses fluid dynamics to shape the bore perfectly. A 52mm from them will flow better than a 52 from any other source I have found.

In your opinion, would a 55mm in anticipation of heads/cam down the road hinder performance enough to not make it worth it? This could help some people that are slowly puttin a build together as it would be nicer to just by one TB instead of two.

Would likely not hinder anything at all, Within reason you cannot "over-TB" an EFI engine.

So what I'm hearing if I'm correct is that the F&B 52mm would be the best choice for people like me that are just bolt-on's right?
1998 niner!!!!! K&N FIPK, BFG All Terrains, MSD coil, Taylor Thundervolt wires, Superchips Programer, Kolak 3" tailpipe, Magnaflow highflow 3" Cat, MBRP 3" chambered muffler, MBRP 3"-3 1/2" dual wall stainless tip, NP 242 swap, and gonig to be more to come!!!!!

Just curious if you have any form of proof to these claims?
If so, what are the sources you are quoting from?
What other TB's did they use in their testing?
When did so called test happen?

    Whether it is a:
    F&B 52mm
    Fastman 52mm
    Hipotek 52mm
    BLKDAK 52mm
    BBK 52mm
    Holley 52mm
    Xtreme EFI 52mm
    Hughes Billet 52mm
    Hughes Big Gulp ??mm

The flow rating differences will be minimal, you are not going to gain more than 1-2 HP from one to the other, there are 3 ways to test them, flow bench, dyno, and the drag strip. One may flow better on the bench, but have a slower E.T.'s and vice versa. In reference to form and function, I have seen cable alignment issues with F&B and some known sticking issues, BBK, Holley, and Hughes 52mm Billet TB's are known to whistle, stockers pretty much like the factory designed them.

I know I saw proof of it in the past, but since you asked I doubt I'll be able to find it.

I don't trust anything from Hughes.

Bang for the buck yours has to be one of, if not the best.

Thanks Russ, I try to make high quality products with the best price that I can, for me making the most money possible is not the objective.

My understanding is the stock TB can only be maxed to like 53.7 is something. I would by a a 55 from Brian in a heartbeat if he could though.

Ryan has also suggested I'm leaving power on the table with my 52mm aswell. Hoping to get rid of most of the restriction with changing out the oem top hat. I am running a 3.5" Cai with AEM 9" Filter. Has anyone ran one of these Hughes big gulps?

None of us and Hughes didn't sell many. Solid theory maybe but I don't think it stood the test. Even "upgrading" to the K&N tube I still have restriction with the 52mm. Had considered going to 4.5" intake tube and cutting hood for new airhat but have picked different/more fun roads. Elaborate later(much) on that.

I'm running a Hughes Big Gulp. I feel it flows about what they claim it does. It definitely out flows my buddy's 98 5.2 with the 52mm Fastman.

No shit? You're the first person I've actually heard of running one. It's a 53mm bore correct? Did they quit selling them or what?
